HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN ( 1805 – 1875 ) sitting outside city hall in Copenhagen. He is wishfully looking towards TIVOLI which is just across the street. He wrote 3381 works of literature during his life time. His fairy tales have been translated into 125 languages
When it comes to “fairy tales” I think the above picture can stir your fantasy. What is at the end of the road. Into the tunnel of your imagination! The picture below, I took on a wintry morning. The glass pane was completely frozen and I imagined it could be from one of his most popular fairy tales “The Snow Queen”.
Of Course I cannot leave out the most famous of all his writings: “The Little Mermaid”! I wanted to take a “non-touristic” picture. I liked the sun reflecting behind her and even though you cannot see her features, but just as a silhouette, I think she is instantly recognized.
However, did you know that a little known fact about the statue of the Little Mermaid is that she was commissioned in 1909 by Carl Jacobsen, son of the founder of Carlsberg Brewery. So it is only appropriate that the original statue by the sculptor Edward Eriksen can be seen when visiting Carlsberg.

I love a single tree in an open field, like the picture above. Having the fence in the foreground gives the photo depth.
This photo was taken from SASS PORDOI ( Italy ) 2950 meters up. To get there you must first drive on the road you see below. To reach the top of SASS PORDOI you can either hike up the mountain or take the gondola. Next time I visit I will take the gondola up and then hike down! By then you definitely have earned a meal and a beer at one of the many restaurants located at the base of the mountain.
